Garden Party String Lights from Pottery Barn

posted by Alexandra | in Fabulous Finds, Wedding Planning Tips

I don’t do this very often. But I simply cannot keep these string lights to myself any longer. (However, if you’re a Pottery Barn fanatic/online store stalker/shopaholic like I am, you may already know about them.) Simply put – they’re fabulous! Which is why I’m sharing them with you today. That and they are PERFECT for so many types of events! Like…

  • weddings (intimate backyard or vintage garden)
  • showers (bridal and baby)
  • parties (birthday, anniversary, engagement, graduation, etc.)
  • rehearsal dinners
  • summer soirees
  • everyday night get-togethers and barbecues
  • garden parties

They’re perfection. Fabulously vintage. A touch whimsy. A little bit café like. With just the right amount of mood lighting. Did I mention how undeniably adorable each string light set is? Consider it mentioned. They’re adorable. And at $39.00 a pop – undeniable.

I’ve spent two weeks pouring over these string lights. Two weeks. And I still can’t decide on a favorite. Although, if I was forced to choose… I’m pretty much in love with the rattan globes, the mercury glass globes, and the wire birds. Although the dragonflies are adorable too. As are the wire bird cages. See?! I told you I couldn’t decide on a favorite! But maybe you can…

Tell me – which of these string lights is your favorite? Do you agree that they are simply fabulous? Can you think of any other outdoor events they’d be perfect for that aren’t listed above? I’m sure there are more! Sound off in the comments!

Happy Thursday!

xoxo

Inspiration Board: Teal Romance

posted by Alexandra | in Inspiration Boards

I’m going to say it again – this inspiration board goes down as one of my all-time favorites. I can’t help it – it’s gorgeous! It screams romance! Elegance too. And is just so darn pretty you can’t help but sigh. (Go ahead – it’s ok.) From top to bottom this inspiration board is sigh-worthy. From that positively dreamy bridal kiss, to that dazzling diamond ring, the fabulous Valentino’s, and that tiny but perfect succulent accent piece. I could say more – but I’ll be too busy daydreaming about a wedding that looks exactly like this one. ;)

Tuesday Shoesday: Diamonds & Pearls

posted by Alexandra | in Fashion

Last week, I shared an über sexy pair of satin and lace high heels. It seemed only fitting then to feature shoes adorned with diamonds and pearls for this week’s Tuesday Shoesday. These flat sandals are so incredibly cute! How could you not fall head over heels in love with them?! They’re perfect for the tall bride who doesn’t require a few extra inches, the bride who just hates high heels, or the bride whose feet need something a little more comfy on their wedding day. Can’t you just picture the way the first pair would sparkle? Or the way the second pair would glimmer from beneath layers of tulle and silk? I can. And it’s a perfectly sigh-worthy image…

Diamonds | Pearls

What do you prefer: the diamonds or pearls?

Note: That they are not really diamonds – they’re rhinestones. And those are not really pearls – they’re beads that have been painted to look like them. You know, just so there isn’t any miscommunication.

Happy Shoesday!

Fun Fountain Engagement Shoot from K & S Photography

posted by Alexandra | in Engagement Sessions

It is beautiful out! And as we enter this last week of March (with sunny skies ahead), I am reminded of how this month began. Snowy. Very, very snowy. I think March 2011 fits the phrase, “coming in like a lion, going out like a lamb” to a T. Am I right or am I right?

So with clear, sunny skies ahead (aside from the occasional April shower, which May flowers come from you know), I bring you this engagement shoot from K & S Photography. It’s completely adorable, totally fun, and brings with it a taste of the warmer weather we are all so very ready for!

The moment it came my way, I knew I had to feature it! I mean, what could possibly be more fun than playing in a fountain with the one you love? That’s what I thought – not a thing. :)

Lorie and Jose met at Hooters. Yep, Hooters. I wish I knew the details of this first meeting, but I don’t. What I do know is that Hooters played a very integral role in Jose’s marriage proposal to Lorie. This is how it went…

One week, Jose made plans with Lorie for a Friday night date. Thinking it was just a normal night out for them, Lorie arrived at Jose’s house just like they’d planned. He’d called to say he was running late, so she went on in to wait for him. She opened the door and came face to face with a red stop sign pinned to the back of a bar chair. On the chair was a red rose and a card with her name on it. Directions on the inside told her to go to the place where they first met. (Love it…)

Figuring they were just having dinner there, Lorie drove herself to Hooters. But Jose was nowhere to be found when she got there. Instead a Hooters Girl handed her another rose and a new card with her name on it. This one told her to go to the place where they had their first date. Incredibly curious at this point, Lorie drove to Cantina Laredo. Still no Jose. The hostess approached her moments after walking in and handed her yet another rose and the final card.

Lorie drove like a mad woman to a place special to both of them, the Grape Escape wine bar. Upon arrival, she looked around for Jose. But instead she was greeted by a room full of their friends who witnessed as Jose asked Lorie to be his wife and to spend the rest of her life with him. (So sweet…)

{Behind the Lens with the incredible Shauna Benoit of K & S Photography} Lorie and Jose’s session was a lot of fun. It took place in August in Dallas, Texas, so it was hot to say the least. I really loved shooting these two! You can tell they just click. (I couldn’t agree more!) And any guy that is willing to brave the Texas heat to have pictures taken is obviously in love!

I pretty much go into an engagement session just trying to capture the realness between the couple. I hardly had to direct these two. They were so comfortable with each other and knew just how to make each other laugh. I love capturing two people having fun and being goofy just like Jose and Lorie. Plus, Lorie really knew just how to work it in front of the camera. I let these two take me on a journey and I just captured them being them.

Fun Fact: While these are Lorie and Jose’s engagement pictures, they were actually taken a few months prior to the proposal. Lorie wanted pictures of the two of them so Jose scheduled their session with Shauna on their one-year anniversary. Shauna (the photographer) swears that he already knew then that he was going to marry that girl.

Did anyone else just swoon? I did. I guess it’s true, when you know, you know…

Congratulations Lorie and Jose who tied the knot on October 9, 2010! We wish you tons of love and laughter in your future together! A special thank you to the incredibly talented Shauna of K & S Photography for sharing Lorie and Jose’s engagement photos and love story with us today!
