Boston Public Gardens Engagement Session from Deborah Zoe Photography

Happy Friday, friends! I’ve got the cutest little engagement session from Deborah Zoe Photography to share with you before the week is through! I love this session for two main reasons. First, foremost, and most obviously, the happy couple. Their sweet smiles and natural chemistry make my heart simply melt. And the light, oh, the light! My heart be still! It’s to die for in these engagement photos! Gotta love the Boston backdrop too ;)

Debra and Brian met when he was home from college on winter vacation. They worked together at the same store, but never had the chance to get to know one another. When he was home for summer vacation a few months later, they chatted at every possible opportunity, but neither knew if the other was in a relationship or not. When Debra went away on a long vacation, Brian was afraid he’d missed his opportunity in securing her phone number. He wasted absolutely no time in asking her out on a date as soon as she returned. They’ve been together ever since.

Brian says that one of his favorite moments with Debra was when she agreed to go on that first date with him. Since then, they’ve spent eleven years having a truly wonderful time together. When they first started dating, Brian was living at college an hour away and they didn’t get to see each other as often as they would like. Debra was still in high school and didn’t have much free time. Brian would sometimes drive home on weekends though, just to pick Debra up from work and spend an hour or two with her. Those are some of Debra’s most cherished memories because she knew that sometimes Brian spent more time traveling to see her than he did actually seeing her. Now that they live together, some of their best moments are spent alone together in their apartment, because seeing each other makes the most ordinary day seem extraordinary. (My heart be still! After it’s done swooning though, of course!)

Brian proposed one dreary Saturday last March. Though it was cold and damp, Brian and Debra ventured out to McLaughlin Vineyard, a winery Debra had been wanting to go to and try. They spent a perfectly romantic day alone and returned to their apartment later that evening. One second they were snuggling on the sofa, the next Debra turned to look at Brian who was holding an engagement ring in his hand. He told her later that he hadn’t actually planned on proposing that day, but because everything seemed to fall into place so perfectly, he simply couldn’t wait any longer. (Awww!)

{Behind the Lens with Deborah Zoe} I love engagement sessions! They are fun, relaxed and stress free. I use this time to get to know my couples better. We often start just by walking around catching up. Then, if I see something, I might pull them aside and photograph them. I really want my couples to feel relaxed and comfortable with me. The engagement session is my time to turn my couples from clients to friends and instill a level of trust in me as their photographer. I like natural posing and candid moments and images that are a reflection of who they are.

Brian and Debra decided on Boston for the backdrop of their engagement session as they love the urban feel and quaint charm that Boston offers. Living in Connecticut, they don’t get up to the city all that much and were so excited as we explored new neighborhoods that they had not yet discovered. It was fun being able to show off my city! Brian and Debra were very excited for their engagement session and were happy for the excuse to spend the afternoon flirting ;) They are a carefree pair and were excited to try out anything I suggested, even when it meant placing them in the middle of a busy street!
