On this rather rainy day, I think we all deserve a little something pretty to brighten our day. Actually, today’s wedding is really pretty. Beautifully bright accent colors make this rich shade of purple shine. The details all have a decidedly modern feel and the flowers give the day a very rustic twist. Then, we have the most romantic couple portraits. A perfect representation of the bride, the groom and their love story. All captured beautifully by the wonderful Justin & Mary!

Emily and Jason (aka JB) met in September of 2008 through mutual friends (Jen and Danny) at the Seaside Tavern for the Fairfield County Happy Hour Club. Jen was actually supposed to go with a friend who cancelled at the last minute forcing her to call Emily and see if she was still willing to come through. Emily reluctantly agreed as she’d already made plans to meet friends.
On the flip side, JB rolled with the punches as he was told that Jen’s friend wouldn’t be able to make it, but that Jen’s sister (Emily) would be coming instead. Danny reassured him that he would NOT be disappointed. After a couple hours, a few cocktails, some dancing and a photo hunt nightcap, there was no going back for these two.

JB knew he was going to owe his friend Danny big time for introducing him to Emily. She was smart, attractive and had a great sense of humor. He liked her spunk and the total package for that matter. So much so that he snagged a kiss when he dropped her off at her car and got her business card to email her the very next day.

One night, not terribly long after they started dating, JB decided it was the right time to tell Emily that he loved her. He’s not positive but he’s pretty sure she was ecstatic as she returned the sentiment before he’d even finished and then proceeded to text every one of her family members and friends as if he had just asked her to marry him. It was her reaction that assured him he was the one!

Some time later, JB and Emily went on a weekend trip to Newport with Emily’s sister Jen and her now husband, Trent. After dropping the other two off at the beach, JB and Emily decided to take a stroll along the famous Newport Cliff Walk. As it was probably one of the hottest days of the summer so far, after about 40 minutes Emily was ready to abandon their walk for the beach. But JB persuaded her to continue. A few minutes later they came upon a nice picture opportunity and Emily asked a woman walking past to take their picture. Getting ready to pose, JB got down on one knee and said, “I’ve got a picture opportunity for you! Will you be my wife?” They spent the rest of the weekend celebrating their future together as a soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs.

{From the Bride} My favorite time of the day was the actual ceremony. All the planning and excitement leading up to the wedding was finally here. I was so ecstatic to become Mrs. Jason Bonsignore. Normally an over anxious person, I couldn’t have been more sure and excited to meet him at the altar. The ceremony had a slower pace than the rest of the day and allowed me to savor the emotions of our wedding day.
Our first dance song was True Companion by Marc Cohn. We took some dance lessons prior to the wedding and it was a nice break from all the craziness of wedding planning each week where we got to have fun with each other. We may have made a few missteps the day of, but we had a great time doing it! Our reception was so much fun from start to finish. We rarely left the dance floor and this is exactly what we wanted our reception to be like!
Our programs were my favorite detail about our wedding. The program included a love letter written from my grandfather to my grandmother when he was in the Navy. Both my grandfather and grandmother have passed away and it was so nice to have a piece of them incorporated into our wedding day. The program also allowed us to thank those close to us for making this wedding a reality. The contents were packaged in beautiful pocket size program in the prettiest paper I have ever seen!

We also included wedding photos of “our families” as a display when guests walked into the reception. Family is very important to us and it was nice to acknowledge all the love around us.
When JB and I were getting to know each other we found Christmas and our family traditions were very important to both of us. One of our wedding favors included a CD of our favorite Christmas songs.
Our reception at the Fox Hill Inn was like being in someone’s home. A large stone fireplace, lots of candles and a ton of photos made it feel very warm and welcoming – exactly what we’d hoped for.
Other personal details included: a signature cocktail, cookies from each of our ethnic backgrounds “(Italian/Norwegian)”, cider doughnuts for fall, our photos were used for each of the table numbers, a ‘Love and Kisses’ sign and a bowl of Hershey kisses to recognize how my grandfather would sign all his letters/cards.

Oh, how I love this wedding! Don’t you? Congratulations, Emily and JB! We wish you both nothing but the absolute best! And thank you Justin & Mary (and Julia too!) for sharing with us this beautiful wedding and their talent with us once again! Two Mondays in a row, dreams really do come true!! ;) Have a happy day, everyone! xoxo
