Rustic Vintage Chic Wedding from K & K Photography

I remember looking at this wedding and scheduling it, but I had forgotten (shame on me) just how beautiful it was, and how much I loved it until earlier this week when I opened the file to go through the images. You must know by now that I love a good rustic chic wedding, especially one in which the bridesmaids are dressed in the prettiest shade of blush, carrying ribbon gathered tall wheat sheaf bouquets, and wearing, wait for it…COWBOY BOOTS!!! Apart from that, I love the horseshoe decor, the beautiful bride, the dashing groom, the twinkly light ceiling of the venue where the reception was held. Speaking of…wait until you see the handmade (by the bride’s daddy) MASON JAR chandelier hanging above the head table!!! It’s to.die.for. And may I just say that I think Jeff of K & K Photography outdid himself?! Because on this wedding, he totally did :)

Our love story today doesn’t start off like the others because Liz (our bride) basically stalked her now husband, Dane, before they started dating… in the most innocent and cutest of ways, of course! ;) You see, he lived with a friend of hers and Liz was crushing on him BIG TIME. She made up every excuse and took every opportunity she could to go over there and see him. It must have worked because she and Dane decided to take the leap and see where things could go between them on Valentine’s Day.

Dane dropped off flowers and a purse (bonus points) at Liz’s place of work and later that night, cutely won the battle for their first kiss. Seeing that she has only one piece of gum left, Dane took it, stuck half of it in his mouth, and told her she’d have to kiss him for the other half. Raise your hand if you’ve done this too, all the while thinking you were just like Lady and the Tramp ;)

They were only dating a week and Liz was already reciting his last name with her first name, convinced that she would end up marrying him. They moved in together a week later. Not long after that, Dane began tracing the words I love you on her knee while driving home from work one night. But she’d completely missed it and he refused to do it again until a week later. It became their favorite way to say I love you from then on out.

Five years together and one of Liz’s most favorite things to do together is ride around on Dave’s motorcycle. In the heat and especially in the cold, Dane always covers Liz’s hands with his own around his waist. It makes her feel protected and safe and it’s these moments that she cherishes. They are each other’s best friend and really could not ask for more.

Liz is a very hard woman to surprise, so when it came time to propose, Dane planned carefully and secretively. He told her they would be going to dinner at their favorite place, followed by dessert at another favorite. Upon hearing this, Liz immediately invited her sister (who loved both places as well) to go and then got upset when Dane informed her he wanted it to be just the two of them. He had to go behind Liz’s back and ask her sister to politely decline the invitation (which she did) to go forward with his original plan.

On the way to their second favorite place (Bern’s Steak House) for dessert, Liz (not knowing where their night would lead) brought up the engagement rings they’d gone to look at not long before. She mentioned that she really didn’t know which one she preferred…completely oblivious to the ring Dane had already purchased that was now residing comfortably in his pants pocket.

At their table, Dane suggested they both make a toast in celebration of the evening. Suddenly shy and not really sure what she should say, she said, “I love you?” To this day she’s not sure why the words came out as a question. Must have been nerves and maybe a bit of unconscious excitement as to what was coming next. When it was Dane’s turn, he simply got down on knee and asked her to be his wife. It was completely perfect, and of course, Liz said yes!

{From the Bride} Our wedding day was truly perfect. I couldn’t have asked for more. While we had a wedding coordinator to pull everything together the day of, I designed and purchased everything for the wedding. My dad built an amazing mason jar chandelier for over the head table. My sister made my wedding cake with chocolate sticks and little birds on it. She and I shared a hotel room the night before the wedding and had a little girl time before the big day. All my girls came to my room the next morning to get ready and I had friends comes in to do my hair and make up. It was so nice!! My sister took me to the church which was really exciting and last minute. When we pulled up, Dane walked out the side door!! My sister had to skid the car around the corner to try and hide me and I threw my hands up in front of my face when Dane looked over so he couldn’t see me :) The church was beautiful, the pictures amazing, and the reception was just gorgeous. I am still fully in love with that day.
