You know what I love? Submissions from brides! We don’t get many, so that when we do, I get overly excited! :) I’m so excited to share this vintage train station and orange grove engagement session with you today! I just love the photos of these two in the train station, decked out in vintage clothing. There really isn’t anything sweeter…except maybe the photos of these two in the orange grove…they’re pretty sweet too! Jerome Park Photography did an amazing job capturing them and the love they share between them!

Tiffany met Tanner in college. Though they never laid eyes on each other on campus, the two were actually neighbors. They tell everyone that she really was the girl-next-door – how fun :)
Their love story doesn’t start off like most – it wasn’t love at first sight for these two. In fact, they didn’t have all that much in common, but they really enjoyed each other’s company. They became really close friends, and secretly developed crushes on each other; but because neither thought they stood a chance with the other, chose not to say anything. They were so different… He was the studious boy-next-door, quiet and introverted; she was the silly, talkative, extroverted, girl-on-the-other-side-of-the-fence. She actually met Tanner on a Monday night (after finals week) wanting to borrow ping pong balls for a game of beer pong with her roommates (not to borrow ‘sugar’ as one would expect from the typical girl-next-door). They never thought it would work out between them.

It wasn’t until one night – when Tiffany was throwing a house party (in her That 70s Show-inspired red garage) that she and Tanner spent the entire night talking…about all the girls she’d tried setting him up with! She knew he was a catch after all, but Tanner wanted no one but her. And so he told her, in the only way he knew how. He kissed her. On her vintage green tufted sofa with the disco ball spinning and random music the DJ had left playing. They were the only two left, and while the setting and scene were tacky, and the music was that of something you’d hear in Pirates of the Caribbean, it was one of the sweetest kisses Tiffany had ever had.
Because they were neighbors, their relationship moved rather quickly. Their roommates (consisting of three boys and three girls respectively – it was like the college-version of The Brady Brunch or something) even suspected they were dating before the two love birds announced it themselves that it was so!

While Tanner moved across town his senior year, they didn’t really face their first relationship hurdle until he graduated. They weren’t sure where they would end up if he took a job opportunity across the country. Tanner was confident they would stay together, but Tiffany wasn’t so sure. He wound up taking a job just two hours away, so that when Tiffany graduated, she moved to be with him, only to move again when a job opportunity became available in another state. They battled an even-longer distance relationship just to stay together, and made it!

They were together four years before Tanner finally got down on one knee. He had a private room set up in the back of one of their favorite restaurants, House of Tricks (a rustic cottage-like home turned into a restaurant), candles lit everywhere, and a table set up in front of the fireplace just for them. Tiffany recalls how sweet and romantic it was and that she wouldn’t have had it any other way.

{From the Bride-To-Be} The ‘vintage train station’ idea for our engagement shoot was an easy decision for us knowing Tanner’s love of all things machines, especially trains, and my love for all things vintage. It’s why we chose, Jerome. The style of photos he produces encompasses a true vintage film look, not a digitally processed look.

Thank you, Tiffany, for finding our lovely blog on Pinterest(!!!) and submitting your engagement session and love story to us! It was an honor and a pleasure and we couldn’t be happier for you and Tanner! Much love and luck to you both in the years to come! A special thank you to Jerome Park, too, for sending along the photos for us to feature! xoxo
