It’s the dog days of August – hazy, hot, and humid – and if you have thoughts of getting married in the summer, you want to make sure that your guests (as well as you and your bridal party) will be comfortable. Personally, there is nothing worse then thinking about getting all gussied up for a party when it’s hot and humid. Here are some great ideas to ensure you and your guests will be more comfortable during a hot, summer day (or night) wedding.
If it’s bright and sunny, sunglasses will be a good thing to offer your guests so they won’t be blinded and can concentrate on the ceremony. Additionally, umbrellas will also offer much welcome shade especially if you have some older grandparents attending. They come in such pretty colors and patterns too!

Fans are a great way to cool off and also can do double duty by making great ceremony programs!

Flip flops are always welcome when having a ceremony on the beach. Ladies that love to wear their heels will be also love to not get stuck in the sand or bring them along to the reception for aching feet on the dance floor. :) And if someone doesn’t want to partake, and would rather just feel the hot sand on their feet, why not offer a little basket of brushes to sweep that sand off their tootsies so they can return back to their stylish shoes sand free!

Don’t forget a little extra protection from the sun and bugs! Offering a sunscreen and/or a bug repellent (that even smells good!) will have your guests thanking you for being such a smart cookie (and hostess)!

Lastly, but certainly not least, make sure to keep your guests hydrated! Water is, of course, the best while sitting in the blazing hot sun and humidity. You can get customized labels made for water bottles or arrange to have water stations with choices of lemon, lime or even cucumber – yummy!

By thinking ahead, you can keep you and your guests cool. Remember, the only heat should be coming from the smoldering kiss that you and your groom exchange when it comes after I do!
How will you keep cool at your summer wedding?
