{Who is April} She is a hopeless romantic at heart. She grew up dreaming about fairy tales and weddings, and last year, when she married the love of her life, her dreams came true. Growing up, she always loved art class, and fell instantly in love with graphic design after being introduced to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator her sophomore year of high school. It wasn’t until she was asked to design both of her best friends’ wedding invitations that her love for weddings and graphic design combined into a newfound love of designing wedding stationery.

{How She Got Started} In 2010, April found her niche. Though in some respects, she believes it found her too. She had been working as a graphic designer in the corporate world for over a decade when she had the pleasure of designing both of her best friends’ wedding stationery. It was at that moment that she knew she’d found new love and moved into the world of weddings. Wedding stationery is her specialty, but she does work in all areas of graphic design.

{What She Loves Most About Wedding Stationery} “There is so much love and emotion that surrounds a wedding and I feel so lucky to be a part of such a special day in people’s lives. Each wedding that I design for is unique and I will create a completely custom invitation for all of the couples that I work with. Every couple is different and I believe that they deserve to have their own unique look for their special day.”

{Who is Her Ideal Bride} “My ideal client is a paper lover, just like me! She is a hopeless romantic; a girl that has dreamed about her happily ever after since she was little. My client is a Pinterest lover and is always pinning ideas to help her bring all of her ideas together for her big day. Each and every detail is perfectly planned out.Wedding invitations should be about the couple’s personality, which is why every invitation I create is different.  I’m constantly changing fonts, colors, paper, envelope choices, size, etc. to fit with what the couple envisions. Having clients who feel passionately about one direction or another are always great to work with. But on the other hand, I also have a great time helping a couple figure out exactly what they want if they aren’t sure what they are looking for. I treat all of my clients as I do my friends, because I hope by the time I am finished working on their stationery, that they’ve become a friend! I love what I do and making others happy!“

{A General Wedding Planning Tip} “I highly suggest that brides create a Pinterest board for their wedding if they haven’t already! Not only does this help you in the planning process, but it also helps your vendors, especially if they are creating something custom for you.”

{Wedding Stationery Tip} “Don’t lick one hundred envelopes! The safest way to seal your invitations is to use a glue stick. If you use a water sponge, you risk getting important cards wet and wiping the adhesive away. Don’t lick — use a glue stick!“

{Why Brides/Couples Will Love Her} “I always find it hard to gush about yourself! Couples love to work with me because I am very accommodating and patient with them. I love working with them to bring their vision of their big day to life on paper! I love working with couples to create that perfect design and find the perfect paper to compliment their design. {Need to Know} Custom Invitation Packages start at $500 for 100 invitations. This basic package includes a custom designed flat invitation, RSVP card and envelope, and a mailing envelope. ALH Designs offers more than just custom designed stationery for weddings, they will work with you on custom designed stationery for all of life’s special events. April works out of Pennsylvania, but besides working locally, she also does work with clients nationwide.
