Top Wedding Dress Trends Of 2017

With fall and winter around the corner, brides are searching all the latest designers  for the hottest trends in wedding dresses. Vera Wang, Marchesa, Savannah Miller and Casablanca are well known for their wedding gowns, but several newcomers made a splash on the scene with daring off off-the-shoulder looks. Rime Arodaky was the newcomer who dared brides to bare their shoulders this crisp fall.

Other trends that made the runway were flowing ruffles and tiered skirts. Bohemian coverings, feathered accents, adorning ballgowns, column dresses, and A-line profiles. Lace covered bare shoulders to full sleeves; sequins adorned form fitted mermaid gowns, but the overall theme was bare collarbones and necklines.

The largest statement made this year was over-sized accessories to make a statement. Grand earrings and hair accouterments lit up the fashion runway. Tiaras and crowns fit for any royalty designed by Rime Arodaky and Alon Livine’ make the statement that on your day, you’re the Queen to be adorned.

However, if you are going to follow the trendsetters of the fashion world in the fall and winter of 2017, here is the scoop:

Return to Simplicity – simple and elegant, chic is back. www.metro.com.uk (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Sheer – one must have a lot of confidence to wear this stunning dress, but it would be perfect for an outdoor wedding. www.metro.com.uk (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Ruffles – nothing says romance like ruffles; pretty and all girl, a princess in waiting. www.theknot.com (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Off the Shoulder – depending on the style, it can be classic and traditional or way too much. www.brides.com (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
The low V – the bride must have a stunning body to pull this dress off. The dress is stunning, but only for supermodels. (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Bows – depending on where they are located on the dress, they can make it look elegant or frumpy. Brides beware. (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Coloured Wedding Dresses – white has always been an option, but so have so many other colors such as ivory; however, stray too far and you could get mistaken for a bridesmaid. (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Crop Tops – unless you have amazing abs you want to show off, or you are incredibly tall, I don’t see the purpose of this style unless it happens to be your thing. (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Dramatic Backs – Oh my God, yes. I’m a huge fan of dramatic backs as well as fronts. Think about it, as you walk down the aisle, your guests are primarily looking at your backside, show them something worth looking at. (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Dresses with Sleeves – beautiful lace sleeves or capped sleeves are perfect for winter weddings, designed right, they add a touch of elegance and hide larger brides flaws. (Photo by: Davids’s Bridal)
Floral – while the dress they show is absolutely stunning, it is a ball gown, not a bridal gown. It looks like something Scarlett O’Hara would wear and not to her wedding, but I still want to own it. (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
High Necked- Do you remember the dress that Julie Andrews wore in The Sound of Music? The high colored lace dress that had this incredible train. Granted it was beautiful, but it was designed for a WWII nun bride. If that is the traditional look you are going for, this dress was made for you. www.brides.com (Photo by: David’s Bridal)
Jeweled Wedding Dress – call me bedazzled, but some part of my wedding dress must have sequins or jewels. I want them to make me sparkle just a little bit more. I just don’t think it’s a wedding dress if it doesn’t have a bit of lace on it and a bit of jewel. if it’s missing these two key items, its a prom dress in my opinion. Thank goodness they are still in style this year. (Photo by: David’s Bridal)

I think that after searching the web, I found my dress that covers all the bases of the 2017 trends. It has lace, semi on semi off the shoulder, sleeves, deep plunge for my ample bosom, full ruffles to cover all flaws and another color other than white. Bingo. I have found my dress.
